CDBC (California Deaf Bassmasters Club) hosted deep sea rockcod fishing overnight trip is big successfull! Everybody caught FULL limits of rockfish (10) and lingcod (2)! The 24 happier anglers scored 240 rockfish (limit), 48 lingcod (limit), 2 rock sole, 2 cabezon, 10 whitefish. Also We released over 150 small lingcod! The law require to keep lingcod 22” up.
Last Friday night, the boat “Mirage” departed Oxnard early 945pm. The boat searched school of squid by fish finder depth. They found it and set up powerful bright lights and net ready. We saw school of squid float and waited for closer to boat. The crews netted and loaded in both 2 full tank for LIVE squids!
The boat traveled to Santa Miguel island and arrival spot 730 am after sunset. We fished in 160 to 180 feet deep water. Till We caught limits by 2pm and return home for 5 hours. While the boat return home.We watched all beautiful 4 islands and lot of sea gull chase the boat while the crews cleaned all fishes.
We wanted to thank SCDAC (Southern California Deaf Anglers Club) donated $300 to jackpot winner with active SCDAC members.
Jackpot winners is 1st - Eric Lundin 13.6 lb (rare) HUGE cabezon $150 and boat’s jackpot $240 (=$390), 2nd - John Mello 13.5 lb lingcod $100 and 3rd - Brad Miles 13.4 lb lingcod $50.
Eric Lundin donated his jackpot $75 cash to CDBC’s NBAD 2014 fund. We thanked him for super support!!
All anglers said, we are VERY enjoying and wanna to host other trip again next year, We will host other same trip on March 22, 2014.
